Employment: Seasonal or Full TimePosition Summary: As a Sewickley Heights Golf Club Grounds Intern / AIT, you will assist with daily golf course maintenance while gaining practical, hands-on experience in turfgrass management and golf course operations. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in an educational, team-oriented environment that supports professional growth and continuous learning.The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, and eager to develop their skills, while taking pride in their work and contributing positively as a member of the team.Responsibilities:
- Daily mowing with walk-behind and riding units.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to achieve goals.
- Proper water management (hand watering, overhead, etc.).
- Chemical and fertilizer applications (calibration, mixing, and techniques).
- Proper Course Set-up.
- Cultural Practices (topdressing, aerification, moisture management, etc.)
- Irrigation system maintenance.
- Learn how to manage/motivate fellow teammates.
- Practice professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
- Understand the importance of networking, development, and record keeping.
- Ability to learn Microsoft office.
- Early morning start times.
- Often required to stand, walk, and use hands to operate machinery, tools or controls.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30lbs occasionally.
- Moderate exposure to weather and environmental conditions. (heat, rain, pollen, etc.)
- Moderate exposure to machinery. (gas, diesel, vibrations)
- Sometimes work extended hours during golfing and holiday season.
- Work weekends.
- Experience is recommended, but we are willing to work with anyone that is eager to learn and dive into the turfgrass profession.
