Job Description
We are currently seeking a Group Exercise Instructor for the Greater Waco YMCA. The Group Exercise Instructor will lead group exercise classes for our Silver Sneakers. Candidates should be energetic, enthusiastic, and dependable. A primary group exercise certification, current Silver Sneakers certification, and experience teaching Silver Sneakers classes are required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach Silver Sneakers Circuit, Classic, Boom Move or Boom Muscle
- Keep current primary group exercise certification and Silver Sneakers certification through a national certifying association
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings as scheduled
- Ensure class is set-up, starts/ends on time and equipment is stored appropriately
- Follow association/branch dress code
- Teach each class as formatted by the Health and Fitness
- Director and maintain agreed upon class attendance minimums
- Shares fitness program information with members, using available tools and resources
- Communicates with members and program participants while building relationships in support of their individual needs
- Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants
- Have a positive, enthusiastic and respectful attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Creative, caring and committed
- Desire to continually learn and improve
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be reliable with a good attendance record
- Have a good knowledge of fitness and wellness
- Be friendly, courteous, enthusiastic, possess a cooperative attitude, and be a team player
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations
- Be willing to uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, responsibility, respect, and faith
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire
- Be able to pass reference check, pre-employment drug screen, background check and sex offender check

Pay Rate: $18-$21.99 Hourly
