Job Description

Gynecologic Oncologist (MD/DO)

Position Summary

The Gynecologic Oncologist provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for patients with malignancies of the female reproductive system. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, operative and non-operative management of gynecologic cancers, collaboration with multidisciplinary oncology teams, and delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered oncologic care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with gynecologic malignancies including ovarian, uterine, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers
  • Perform complex gynecologic oncology surgical procedures consistent with training and privileges
  • Provide non-surgical management including chemotherapy oversight and coordination of adjuvant therapies
  • Manage perioperative and postoperative care, including complications and long-term follow-up
  • Provide inpatient consultation services and outpatient oncology clinic care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and oncology care planning conferences
  • Collaborate with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, genetics, and palliative care teams
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and survivorship planning
  • Participate in clinical research, quality improvement, and outcomes initiatives as applicable
  • Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or trainees
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program
  • Completion of an accredited Gynecologic Oncology fellowship program
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Gynecologic Oncology
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
  • DEA registration or eligibility

  • Strong clinical judgment and operative decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage complex oncologic cases
  • Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and patient safety

Work Environment

  • Hospital operating rooms, outpatient oncology clinics, inpatient units, and cancer centers
  • Call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures
  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina for operative care
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for clinical and surgical environments
