Overview
Job Description
- Set up, adjust, and operate hardwood molder machines to produce custom and standard profiles
- Read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, and specifications
- Select, install, and align cutting heads, knives, and tooling
- Monitor machine operation to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency
- Inspect finished products for defects, dimensions, and surface quality
- Perform routine maintenance, blade changes, and minor mechanical adjustments
- Troubleshoot machine issues and report major maintenance needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Meet production schedules while minimizing waste and downtime
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience operating woodworking machinery, preferably molders
- Knowledge of hardwood species, grain patterns, and machining characteristics
- Ability to read measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to lift, stack, and handle lumber safely
- 2+ years of experience as a molder operator in a hardwood manufacturing environment
- Experience with multi-head molders and custom profiles
- Familiarity with knife grinding or tooling setup
- Forklift certification
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with dust, noise, and machinery
- Industrial woodworking facility
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wood dust, and noise (PPE required)
