Job Description

The HCM / EC Payroll Architect will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of the SAP HCM and SuccessFactors EmployeeCentral Payroll module. You will provide Tier 2/Tier 3 technical assistance to HR and Payroll teams, manage system updates, and ensure that all legal and tax updates (Support Packages/CLCs) are correctly applied.This is an onsite role in our McLean, VA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues within SAP / ECP, including payroll schemas, PCRs (Payroll Calculation Rules), wage types, Master data, etc.

  • Integration Management: Monitor and maintain the Point-to-Point (P2P) integration between SAP and Employee Central to ensure data consistency.

  • Compliance & Updates: Coordinate the implementation of SAP Succession Packs and Legal Change Packages (LCPs) to ensure the system remains compliant with regional tax laws.

  • Production Support: Support end-users during critical payroll windows (weekly/bi-weekly/monthly) to resolve "blocked" payroll runs or master data replication errors.

  • Configuration: Perform configuration changes in the SAP and ECP related to payroll processing, benefits integration, and third-party remittances.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of hands-on experience in SAP HCM and SuccessFactors EC Payroll support.

  • Demonstrating in-depth abilities configuring and implementing SAP SuccessFactors/HCM solutions. 

  • Providing in-depth abilities in Time Management and Payroll processes and strong technical knowledge. 

  • Integrating between a cloud HR solution (SAP SuccessFactors, Workday) and SAP On-prem Time and Payroll systems, as well as ECP;

  • Solution architecting time and payroll integration design, developing strategy and plan for time and payroll parallel testing.

  • Demonstrating successful full Life-cycle implementations of SAP SuccessFactors and/or SAP HCM Time and Payroll solutions, from planning to configuration through go-live; 

  • Demonstrating proven record of success as both an individual contributor and team lead, leading teams and driving their work to establish project timelines are met. 

  • Demonstrating a proven record of managing work streams, including monitoring and escalating when necessary

  • Demonstrating an in-depth level of ability with business analysis, requirements gathering, problem analysis, and resolution skills; 

  • Demonstrating an in-depth level of ability to advise on configuration, documentation, and business solutions. 

  • Proficiency in Schemas and PCRs to handle complex calculations.

  • Clear understanding of security roles and confidentiality involving personal data and Payroll information. 

  • Demonstrating an in-depth level of knowledge on table relationships and reporting capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, HR, or a related field.

  • Certifications: SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (preferred).

  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, the ability to explain technical payroll terminology to non-technical HR users, and extreme attention to detail.

The Physical Side of the Role: Given that a good portion of your day will be spent at a desk, you should be comfortable with prolonged periods of focused work, whether it's collaborating with colleagues, analyzing data, or developing strategies. The role demands effective communication and sharp visual acuity for reviewing complex documents and performing detailed computer work. While there are times for quiet concentration, you'll also be expected to move actively throughout the office and travel occasionally to various locations, including dynamic construction sites, utilizing different modes of transportation. The ability to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds on occasion (think a box of files or small office equipment), is also required.

Your Work Environment:Your primary workspace will be in our professional office, which has a typical, quiet-to-moderate noise and light levels. As part of your work, you may also be required to visit active construction sites. These environments are naturally more dynamic and can include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, louder noise, and moving equipment.
