Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW
This role leads the Platform Design team, setting the vision and standards for scalable, consistent, high‑quality experiences across the enterprise ecosystem. The leader oversees design for core enterprise platforms, delivering reusable experiences that power products across the entire bank. Partnering closely with product, technology, and agile teams, this role ensures reusable platforms enable teams to move faster without sacrificing quality. They also grow and inspire a highly capable team of designers while driving execution excellence, craft, and operational rigor at scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead design across enterprise platforms (e.g., authentication, money movement, digital experience, profile/preferences, connected finance, document management, customer success)
- Partner within the product, technology and agile "quad" model to deliver high-quality, reusable design solutions
- Drive consistency and scalability of experiences used across multiple lines of business
- Collaborate closely with product leaders (e.g., platform owners) and engineering counterparts
- Ensure platforms enable secure, frictionless, and intuitive customer experiences at scale
- Lead a team of ~35 (5-6 direct reports), setting direction and maintaining high design standards
- Focus on operational delivery, prioritization, and alignment within a defined platform scope

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Proven leadership in experience design, reusable platforms, and UX at scale
- Ability to deliver reusable systems and design solutions across large organizations that meet the needs of many
- Strong execution orientation with the ability to manage complex delivery environments
- Experience leading and developing mid-to-large size teams
PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Expertise on the critical interdependencies across product model system elements that help millisecond performance, ability to plan and design solutions that produce outcomes to achieve business results using business metrics, key performance evaluation design systems, service blueprint, and innovation
- Demonstrates deep understanding of target customers through internal/external research (e.g., online or persona, data analysis, product strategy/experience)
- Strong collaboration with product managers, software engineers, and designers to create product features and roadmaps
- Established cross-functional human-centered design sessions to build empathy for users, create alignment on customer pain points, and to identify outcomes aligned with product metrics for product outcomes
- Prototyping skills: design thinking, data strategy, product delivery, vision and stories, product development, channel strategies and management, customer experience research, insight and analytics, persuasive communication and optimization, marketing and analytics
- The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3+ days per week in the Minneapolis office

- Preferred hubs: Minneapolis, Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, Atlanta (flexible)
- ~10-20% travel

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $149,515.00 - $175,900.00
