Job Description:

Head Nurse (RN)- Interventional Radiology

Location: Patchogue, NY

Hours/Days: 4/10 hr days, Mon-Wed, Fri 8a-6p (RDO Thu)

In This Role, You Will:

  • Start and Maintain IV’s for Radiology procedures including but not limited to CT scans and PET/CT scans.

  • Monitor and chart vital signs, weight and height

  • Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.

  • Conduct cancer research to enhance treatment protocols assigned to cancer patients.

  • Provide supportive resources for the patient and the families to promote a positive outlook.

  • Teach patients and the families regarding treatment expectations.

  • Watch and record the patient’s progress on a constant basis.

  • Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.

  • Complete MAR after treatment.

  • Provide the patient with discharge instructions that are specific to the patient as well as emergency numbers after care.

  • Manage all aspects of nursing responsibilities during each shift.

  • Assign patient assignments.

  • Handle medication orders.

  • Train new hires.

  • Maintain a safe environment for both staff and patients.

  • Provide efficient, timely, and knowledgeable care.

  • Ensure patient satisfaction in every interaction.

  • Uphold and model the values expected of staff, ensuring they are consistently reflected in all team members.

We Require:

  • Valid New York State RN License

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

  • Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching

  • Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

  • Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs

  • Salary: Starting at $50.88/hr Based on location per hour based on experience
