Job Summary:
The Head of Video is the primary authority on all video-related technical systems within Mystic Lake Amphitheatre. You will be responsible for the deployment of advanced video systems across corporate, educational, and live entertainment productions. As a department head, you will blend high-level systems engineering with hands-on technical direction. A critical component of this role is the management and supervision of a union video crew, ensuring that all labor remains compliant with collective bargaining agreements while maintaining the highest standards of production excellence for in-venue displays, high-lumen projection, and broadcast-quality live streams.
This is a union stage crew role. Any successful candidate will be required to join IATSE Local #13 and fulfill membership requirements.In-person interviews will be held the week of May 18-22, 2026. If selected for an interview, the recruitment team will coordinate a time and date with you that week.
General Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation for complex video systems, including switching, routing, and distribution
- Ensure all department operations adhere to the IATSE collective bargaining agreement, including meal breaks, turnaround times, and safety regulations
- Configure and manage LED processors, high-output projectors, and playback systems (e.g., Disguise, Watchout, or Resolume)
- Ensure all video hardware is maintained to industry standards and perform routine troubleshooting on fiber optic and HD-SDI networks
- Lead and supervise all union video hands during load-in, show, and strike
- Coordinate with the Lighting and Audio departments to ensure integrated system timing and sync (Genlock/Timecode)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding technical video requirements and content delivery
- Act as Lead V2 for major events, managing crewing in conjunction with tour direction
- Oversee the ingest and formatting of client-provided media to ensure compatibility with house aspect ratios and resolutions
- Manage live stream encoders and multi-platform distribution to ensure high-fidelity transmission for remote audiences
Qualifications/Skill Requirements:
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in live event video production, specifically in large-scale venues or touring environments.
- Experience managing union crews and/or overhire labor
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex signal paths and hardware failures on the fly
- A deep understanding of color science, aspect ratios, and frame rates across different display technologies (LED vs. Projection)
- Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure in live performance and broadcast environments
- A background check will be initiated in accordance with state and federal law after a contingent offer of employment.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be comfortable working at heights (catwalks/truss)
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more
- Ability to stand for long periods during setup and show execution

The US base salary for this part-time position is $38/hour plus benefits as applicable.
