Job Description
Purpose: Health & Safety Coordinator assists the EHS Manager in daily occupational safety programs. Helps to implement company-wide occupational safety proograms and serves as the coordinator for the occupational safety programs throughout all company departments. The Health & Safety Coordinator shall perform on-site training classes, control PPE inventory and distribution. May be asked to help with plans, designs, implementations, and evaluations of departmental occupational safety programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains health and safety objectives, targets, management programs, and control procedures to ensure compliance.
- Develops, reviews, implements, and maintains required Health and Safety policies and procedures by managing them to meet requirements.
- Drives health and safety by motivating employees to promote awareness and provide leadership on issues of health and safety.
- Fosters new ideas to improve the safety program as well as reduce the environmental footprint of the facility.
- Conducts weekly health and safety inspections and measures all aspects of health and safety and audit compliance with the respective programs.
- Promotes a safe working environment by coordinating plant inspections and reporting statistics.
- Identifies and organizes all required health and safety training for all existing and new employees (as required) to ensure due diligence. Tracking of Mineral onboarding completion.
- Replenishes first aid kits, and other medical/safety personal protective equipment as depleted and advised by departmental supervisors and managers.
- Active participation with AES first responder and safety committee programs
Qualifications:
- Strong communication, customer service and presentation skills (both verbal and written)
- High proficiency with AES administrations systems, specifically Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively alone while prioritizing attention to detail.
- Must be a highly motivated, service-oriented, and team-oriented individual.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Knowledge of OSHA Standards.
Education:
- HS diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Prior safety-related work in a manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions:
- 8-hour workday (7am-4pm) with one hour lunch break.
- Physical abilities: standing, climbing stairs, walking, stooping (50% of day will be on production floor, most days)
