ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Candidate MUST havean EH&S certification, ex: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to be considered.
Responsibilities
Performs work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community.
Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories.
Works on unusually significant, unique or complex issues, provides solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree (4-year technical degree) in an ES&H discipline plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related waste management work environment; or 10 years of progressive experience in waste operations that may be substituted as equivalent experience.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in safety and health and completion of a 30-hour Occupational Safety and Health Standards in General Industry Training courses.
Must havean EH&S certification, ex: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
About the Site
The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium. Y-12 supports efforts to reduce nuclear proliferation risk and performs work for other government agencies (energy.gov).
