As an HSE Specialist, you’ll not only ensure compliance with national and local HSE laws, regulations, and Corporate HSE Standards—you’ll be a champion for our Mars HSE Culture. You’ll translate and execute the site’s HSE strategy, as set by the Site HSE Manager and Corporate HSE Team, and continuously improve site policies and procedures in alignment with our company’s vision, mission, and values.

What are we looking for?

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • Proven leadership in driving safety or environmental programs within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong regulatory knowledge and expertise, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT standards

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience implementing safety programs in a manufacturing setting
  • ASP / CSP certification or ability to achieve ASP within 12 months

  • Experience with confined space assessment and entry procedures
  • Basic knowledge of food manufacturing and GMP practices

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Develop and deploy assigned HSE Standards as they apply to the site
  • Lead efforts to measure and improve critical HSE programs
  • Implement risk assessment and risk prediction processes, driving mitigation measures to lower associate risk and ensuring clear communication across the site
  • Manage construction and contractor safety activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations and standards
  • Deliver training and coaching to ensure all site associates understand and engage with HSE expectations
  • Maintain a continuous “audit ready” state of compliance with company and governmental HSE Standards
  • Investigate all HSE-related incidents, utilizing specific tools to drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Serve as a technical expert alongside the Site HSE Manager, providing expertise and coaching in all areas of HSE, including capital project review and risk management for non-capital modifications
