Health & Safety Internship

Location: Barre, VT

Position Status: Immediately /full time

Rock of Ages and Swenson (AFCO), a division of Polycor, has an opening for a Health & Safety Intern. This is

  • a hands-on role with a focus on regulatory and risk management, monitoring, and measurement of safety
  • performance. The successful candidate will be critical in supporting initiatives for continuous
  • improvement.Internship Goals:
  • 1) Provide an opportunity for a secondary education student to apply education in a business setting
  • and gain experience.
  • 2) Assist Polycor in improving the Health & Safety culture and compliance.Learning Objectives:
  • 1) Intern will gain knowledge in MSHA & OSHA regulations.
  • 2) Intern will improve interpersonal skills and ability to impact employee habits.
  • 3) Intern will gain experience in compliance implementation, hazard recognition, prioritizing tasks,
  • organization, and public speaking.

    Potential Projects:

  • 1) Work with Management and staff to create detailed Job Hazard Analysis’ for multiple tasks.
  • 2) Create and execute Topics for Safety Meetings.
  • 3) Assist in workplace safety audits
  • 4) Development of written Lock out/Tag out procedures for a variety of manufacturing equipment.
  • 5) Assist in Environmental monitoring.
