Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Health Information Management Specialist to maintain medical records and health information systems at a federal correctional institution in Oxford, Wisconsin. FCI Oxford is a medium-security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp in rural central Wisconsin. You will manage inmate health records, process release of information requests, ensure documentation compliance, and support clinical coding and data reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure inmate health records in electronic and paper formats per BOP policies
- Process release of information requests in compliance with HIPAA, Privacy Act, and BOP regulations
- Audit medical records for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness
- Assign ICD-10 and CPT codes for clinical encounters and procedures
- Compile statistical reports on healthcare utilization and quality metrics
- Coordinate medical record transfers for inmate movements between facilities
- Support ACA/NCCHC accreditation documentation
- Train clinical staff on documentation requirements
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIT or RHIA certification preferred
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to pass federal background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
- Correctional or federal healthcare HIM experience
- CCS or CPC coding certification
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $48,000 - $62,000 annually
