Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Health Information Management Specialist to maintain medical records and health information systems at a federal correctional institution in Cumberland, Maryland. You will manage inmate health records, process ROI requests, and support clinical coding and compliance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure inmate health records per BOP policies
- Process release of information requests per HIPAA and BOP regulations
- Audit medical records for completeness and compliance
- Assign ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Compile healthcare utilization and quality metric reports
- Coordinate medical record transfers between facilities
- Support ACA/NCCHC accreditation documentation
- Train staff on documentation requirements
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in HIM or related field
- RHIT or RHIA certification preferred
- EHR proficiency
- HIPAA knowledge
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to pass federal background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
- Federal or correctional HIM experience
- CCS or CPC coding certification
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 annually
