Position Description Summary
APT Research is hiring a Health Physicist in Huntsville, ALwith experience in Radiation Safety with respect to DOD commodities to support the AMCOM Safety Office through review of test data, site surveys, and inspections for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC) site License management which permits transport, handling, and maintenance performedon aircraft and missile components at depot, overhaul, and maintenance sites by providing technical expertisein the area of human factors engineering associated with radiation andradiation safety for the evaluation of systems and components.

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise in health hazards assessments and inRadiation Safety as a Health Physicist with respect to DOD commodities to support the AMCOMSafety Office.
- Perform health hazard evaluations and track AMCOMmanaged commodities containing radioactive sources requiring 100% inventory accountability toensure accurate health hazard assessments are performed.
- Support radiation measurements and sampling at AMCOM facilities byproviding technical expertisein radiation and radiation safety by recording acquireddata for analysis and interpretation for health hazard evaluations of systems for facility certification.
- Provide technical expertise in safety and health hazards to support theAMCOM Safety Office Radiation Safety Training efforts. These efforts train Radiation SafetyOfficers and Civilians involved with AMCOM licensed commodities.
- Provide technical expertisein the area of human factors engineering associated with radiationand radiation safety, review training and training material, and provide recommended changes todocumentation techniques and procedures related to health hazards associated with radiation, toinclude providing assessments and evaluations.
Required Experience/Education:
- 10+ years of experience in Radiation Safety & DOD commodities
Security Clearance Requirement:
- Must have a SECRET level clearance

Travel Requirements:
- Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.)
Physical Requirements:
- Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk
- Ability to lift >15 lbs.
Other Essential Functions:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement
- Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
