A nationally recognized, mid-sized Washington, D.C. law firm is seeking a talented Healthcare Regulatory Litigation Associate to join its sophisticated healthcare practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with strong foundational litigation experience who is interested in developing or expanding a practice at the intersection of healthcare regulation, administrative law, reimbursement, government enforcement, and complex litigation.

The successful candidate does not need to arrive with extensive healthcare regulatory experience. The firm is particularly interested in attorneys who have already developed strong litigation instincts, sound judgment, and excellent written advocacy skills. The team is prepared to teach the substantive healthcare component to an accomplished litigator who is genuinely interested in the industry.

The anticipated base salary range is approximately $180,000–$275,000, depending on class year, litigation experience, clerkship credentials, directly relevant healthcare or administrative-law experience, and overall qualifications. Additional bonus and benefits information will be discussed during the interview process.

Job Details

The Opportunity

The associate will work closely with experienced healthcare attorneys on nationally significant matters involving healthcare providers, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, and other industry participants.

The role may include:

Representing healthcare clients in federal court and administrative proceedingsDrafting dispositive motions, appellate briefs, administrative filings, and other complex written submissionsConducting sophisticated legal research and developing litigation strategyManaging discovery, preparing witnesses, and supporting depositions and hearingsAdvising clients regarding Medicare, Medicaid, reimbursement, regulatory, enforcement, and related administrative-law issuesEvaluating new statutes, regulations, agency guidance, and government actions affecting healthcare organizationsWorking directly with partners, clients, consultants, and other professionals on leanly staffed mattersTaking on meaningful responsibility and client contact based on experience and demonstrated abilityQualificationsApproximately 3–8 years of litigation experienceStrong preference for candidates whose primary professional background has involved litigationJudicial clerkship strongly preferredExcellent legal research, analytical, and writing skillsExperience drafting substantive motions, briefs, or other persuasive legal workDemonstrated ability to assess case strategy rather than solely execute assigned litigation tasksStrong academic credentialsExcellent judgment, communication skills, and attention to detailInterest in healthcare, administrative law, regulatory litigation, or government-facing disputesAdmission to the District of Columbia Bar, or eligibility and willingness to become admitted

Healthcare regulatory experience is welcomed but not required. Candidates coming from commercial litigation, appellate litigation, government litigation, white-collar enforcement, administrative law, or another sophisticated disputes practice are encouraged to apply.
