Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic / Reciprocating Engine Mechanic with hands-on experience working with Volvo and Caterpillar diesel engines within oil & gas and power generation environments. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining engines and associated equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Duties
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Volvo and Caterpillar diesel and gas engines
- Perform major overhauls and rebuilds on reciprocating engines (power generation units, emissions systems)
- Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance programs
- Inspect and repair fuel, lube oil, cooling, ignition, and air systems
- Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tools
- Support field service operations, including remote site work
- Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Assist with commissioning and decommissioning of equipment
- Collaborate with operations teams to minimize downtime
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred
- 3–5+ years of heavy-duty or industrial engine experience
- Proven experience with Volvo and Caterpillar engines
- Strong knowledge of reciprocating engines in oil & gas or power generation
- Experience with diagnostics, rebuilds, and troubleshooting
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- Work in outdoor and industrial environments
- Ability to stand, kneel, and work in confined spaces
