ABOUT THE ROLE
Grit One is looking for a skilled, safety-minded Heavy Equipment & Fleet Mechanic to keep our operations running at full strength. You will own the full maintenance lifecycle of our heavy equipment fleet — from hands-on repairs to coordinating outside vendors. Core Responsibilities
* Ensure all equipment is fully prepared, maintained, and ready to perform on schedule — including delegation, oversight, and hands-on repair work.* Maintain and repair trucks, trailers, and all supporting fleet assets; coordinate third-party service providers when needed.* Operate a wide range of heavy industrial equipment safely and within manufacturer specifications.* Train team members on the correct use, care, and safety requirements for equipment they operate.* Track all repairs, maintenance history, costs, and labor time for equipment; manage parts, supplies, and tool inventory.* Develop and lead daily and weekly team planning meetings; measure results against plan and adjust to drive continuous improvement.* Identify process and policy improvement opportunities and escalate recommendations to your manager.* Cover operator responsibilities when those seats are open or team members are offsite.* Uphold and model all company safety policies and procedures at all times.You will maintain, repair, and operate the following equipment:

What We're Looking For
* Proven hands-on experience in heavy equipment and/or fleet diesel mechanics — you know how machines are supposed to run and you know how to get them there.* Comfortable working in an industrial, outdoor, or port/maritime environment.* A natural leader who can train others, run planning meetings, and hold a team accountable.* Detail-oriented when it comes to documentation — you track repairs, parts, and costs with discipline.* Safety-first mindset: you follow the rules, and you hold your crew to them too.* Self-starter who identifies what needs to be better and brings solutions, not just problems.* Comfortable coordinating with outside vendors and managing third-party service provider relationships.What Makes This a Great Opportunity
