Job Description

The primary functions of the lube tech include but are not limited to being responsible for the safe and efficient fluid changes of, heavy equipment (Loader, Dozers, Skid Steer, and various other similar equipment) along with being able to work around mobile aggregate mining and crushing equipment and effectively monitor all equipment under his/her control.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 

  • Regular, reliable attendance/punctuality at the worksite or assigned work location.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance for loaders, dozers, generators, excavators, and other support equipment.
  • Fluid and filter services on engine, transmission, hydraulic, coolant, differentials, and final drive units. Also engine air and cab filters all oil filters wiper blades and washer fluid as necessary.
  • Grease all lube points or fill auto-lube units.
  • Check tire pressures and tire condition, also adjust tracks as necessary.
  • Do visual inspections of machine to look for fluid leaks or structural damage.
  • Do minor repairs such as hoses and lights.
  • Maintain service records and communicate issues or questions with supervisor.
  • Work will be done in the field and in the shop.
  • Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policies and MSHA.
  • Follow all company policies and local, state and federal regulations for safe working procedures.
  • Ability and knowledge to operate and monitor equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and pre-shift inspections; repair and/or clean equipment as needed.
  • Ability to comprehend and complete all needed paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

Position Requirement

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Good safety, behavior and attendance record.
  • Ability to work out of town for multiple days.
  • The selected candidate will be required to work collectively in a team environment with other co-workers and managers.
  • Willingness to do other work as needed, including heavy labor.
  • Willingness to work outside in all weather extremes.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shift, graveyard shift, over time and weekends/holidays as required.
  • Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 75 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to use hands and feet to move levers and depress pedals, shovels, maneuver hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects.
  • Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently.
  • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and judge distance accurately, observe and monitor a wide area while focused on central point and work with small components and intricate details on equipment.
  • Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work on or around water.
  • Required to wear steel toed or composite work boots.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as supplied by Sundre, which may include gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respiratory masks.

Required experience:

  • Class B CDL license 
  • Be insurable with Sundre insurance company.
  • Clean driving record
