Job Description

AlphaHire is recruiting on behalf of a client for an experienced Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of construction and heavy equipment. This role focuses on ensuring fleet reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting field operations through preventative maintenance and timely equipment repairs. The position is ideal for a mechanically skilled professional with experience servicing diesel-powered equipment and construction machinery.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment including diesel-powered machinery and fleet vehicles
Perform preventative maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and component inspections
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues
Conduct equipment inspections to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns
Maintain service records and document repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts usage
Coordinate with operations teams to prioritize equipment repairs and minimize downtime
Repair or replace components including hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and braking systems
Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications
Maintain a clean and organized shop environment while following all safety procedures

Requirements

3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or fleet technician
Experience servicing construction equipment, trucks, or diesel-powered machinery
Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and mechanical components
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
Experience using diagnostic tools and repair equipment
Ability to read service manuals, technical documents, and equipment schematics
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
