Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled PM services on heavy equipment, generators, and small fleet assets at job sites and yards.
- Drain and replace engine oil, hydraulic oil (as assigned), coolant (as assigned), transmission fluids (as assigned), and differential oils per OEM/company intervals.
- Replace filters (oil, fuel, hydraulic, air) and service breathers, strainers, and water separators.
- Grease chassis and pin points; inspect and service auto-lube systems when applicable.
- Perform basic inspections during PMs: belts/hoses, leaks, tires, brakes (visual), batteries, lights, and obvious structural or safety defects.
- Identify and report defects found during service (leaks, worn hoses, low fluids, abnormal noises, damaged wiring, safety issues) and recommend follow-up repairs.
- Collect and label fluid samples for oil analysis programs when required; document meter readings and service intervals.
- Complete work orders with accurate notes, parts used, quantities, time, and asset data (hours/miles/location).
- Maintain and operate the service truck: keep it clean, stocked, and organized; track inventory, reorder filters/fluids, and control waste.
- Handle fuel/lube/waste materials properly: spill prevention, containment, waste oil/filters disposal, and site cleanliness.
- Communicate daily with dispatch/service coordinator on job status, access requirements, and next-day planning.
- Support minor non-invasive repairs as assigned (hydraulic hose replacement, batteries, lights, grease fittings, basic clamps/lines).
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and parts departments regarding job status and equipment needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school diploma in diesel mechanics or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in diesel or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Working knowledge of fluids, filters, greasing procedures, and safe lifting/jacking practices.
- Ability to read PM checklists, OEM service requirements, and basic schematics/labels.
- Comfortable using digital work order systems (tablet/phone) and documenting accurately.
- Strong awareness of environmental compliance (spill control, waste handling).

Pay rate for this job $35/hr
Working Conditions:
- Work performed in active shop environments and on field job sites in various weather conditions.
- Requires lifting heavy parts (up to 75 lbs), standing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Standing, kneeling, overhead work; heat/noise, and cold weather conditions.
- May include overtime, early starts, on- call hours, weekend, or Saturday runs for critical turnarounds.
