Key Position Details:

Practice Details:

  • Full-time position, Monday- Friday business hours. No call or weekends. Outpatient-based role located at New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm, Minnesota.
  • Provide care for patients with solid tumors and hematologic conditions
  • Care for patients across the treatment continuum, including active treatment visits, Infusion center support, survivorship and follow-up care
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including: Oncology providers, surgical and medical specialists and radiation oncology partners

Job Description:

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a physician/nurse team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients

  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.

  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.

  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.

  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.

  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.

  • Refers for specialty care when determined.

  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.

  • Participates in health care team

  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.

  • Acts as resource to members of the team.

  • Works with primary care team for program development.

  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.

  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree- Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or physician assist program required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of NP or PA experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse- MN Board of Nursing required upon hire ( RN)
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner- MN Board of Nursing required upon hire or Certified Physician Assistant- MN Medical Board required upon hire.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner- American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) - National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants within specialty required upon hire.

BLS required within 180 Days

  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Physical Demands

  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $135,096 to $164,216 per year

The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
