Job Description

Job Title: Histotechnician

Job Location: Salem, OR Dates: June 29 - August 7

Schedule: 5:30a -2p

Weekly Estimated Pay or Pay Range: $2,100 to $2,300

Qualifications:

Minimum of 6 months of hands-on histology laboratory experience, including embedding and microtomy
HT or HTL certification preferred; completion of a Histotechnology program may be accepted in lieu of experience
Strong reading, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to safely operate general laboratory equipment

Preferred:

ASCP HT/HTL certification or a graduate from a school of Histotechnology accredited by CAHEA/NAACLS.
Documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine histology procedures including tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy
Prepare and stain slides according to established laboratory protocols
Ensure accurate specimen identification, labeling, and documentation throughout the process
Maintain and operate laboratory equipment safely and efficiently
Adhere to all laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and resolving workflow challenges as needed
Collaborate with pathologists, PAs, and laboratory staff to support timely and accurate patient results
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
