We partner with homeowners, architects, builders, and designers on some of the most spectacular homes in the country. And we’re growing.

The Role

The Home Experience Designer takes the input from the sales team and turns it into a functional, profitable system to install, across the full range of Bravas solutions, audio, video, lighting, shading, networking, and security.

The solutions need to be accurate and competitive in order to help the sales team close more sales. This role bridges sales and engineering, translating a client's vision into a buildable design, and embodies our six core values: collaborative, accountable, proactive, curious, passionate, and creative.

Responsibilities

  • Researches products and makes recommendations to the sales team and buyer based on functionality across AV, lighting, shading, and other home systems.
  • Produces documents to assist the technical department with installation, including plans, drawings, and elevations.
  • Coordinates with sales and engineering to develop solutions based on client intake information, site assessments, and sales team instructions.
  • Partners with the Design and Sales teams to ensure the client's vision is achieved and all necessary aspects of functionality are included.
  • Ensures requirements from other trades are specified on drawings and communicated to the Project Manager.
  • Creates new and innovative ways to achieve desired results while adhering to budget and product constraints.
  • Attends weekly design meetings with other designers/engineers to share feedback and design improvements.
  • Meets with Sales during the initial design process to ensure all necessary aspects of functionality are included, including attendance at site visits as necessary.
  • Understands and adheres to company standards on product/labor mix, margin, and revenue per technician.
  • Understands and adheres to company standards on product labor attachments and revenue assessment for off-site labor hours (e.g., programming time, travel time).
  • Attends post-install meetings with Project Managers to gather feedback on design improvements.
  • Reviews sales orders, product lists, and elevations with the Project Manager, programmer, and rack technician.
  • Updates project documentation and work orders in job management software.
  • Creates and updates project drawings and schematics as projects evolve.
  • Bench tests and demos products for the in-house team before specifying them into proposals.
  • Contacts vendors and industry experts regarding new equipment or engineering issues.
  • Provides remote support for technicians in the field and occasionally travels to sites to witness systems in use.
  • Provides training or communication to share pertinent information with technicians in the field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of home systems including audio, video, security, lighting, shading, and integration of installed brands.
  • Ability to read and construct documentation such as house plans, elevations, and lighting diagrams.
  • Strong ability to communicate with the sales team, project managers, and other designers/engineers.
  • Commitment to continuing education across audio, video, security, lighting, and shading systems.
  • Proficiency with major control systems, lighting, and design software platforms (e.g., Lutron, Crestron, Control4, Ketra, AutoCAD, D-Tools, or iPoint) preferred.
  • Relevant manufacturer certifications (e.g., Lutron, Crestron, Control4) a plus.
  • Technical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements

  • May require standing or sitting for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to meet customer demands outside of normal working hours.
