Our services include security patrols, safety escorts, admits, and responding to calls for assistance.POSITION HIGHLIGHTSCreate safety and security for patients, visitors and staff at our region's only Level 1 Trauma center and safety net hospital Contribute to our mission to improve the health of the public by serving some of the most vulnerable residents of King CountySuccessful candidates will possess superior customer service skills, offering support and understanding in dealing with patients, staff, faculty and visitors to the medical centerPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESThe Security Officer works to maintain security and safety through inspection of buildings and groundsTactfully confront individuals and gain their trust for authority, de-escalating anger to bring about satisfactory solutionsInvestigate incidents and crimes with the aptitude to complete clear, concise and accurate incident reports and other documentationPatrol and inspect interior and exterior of facility, on foot or in a vehicle. Respond promptly and safely to calls for assistance and “code” calls throughout UWMCEvict, hold or detain persons when directed to do so by the appropriate law enforcement agency, clinical or administrative authorityREQUIREMENTSHigh school graduation or equivalentPossess a valid driver's licenseNo previous felony convictionsTwo years full-time college in police science or allied field OR two years of police or campus security experienceABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
