Job Description
GENERAL MANAGER
Luxury Private Island Resort
Lead Somewhere Extraordinary.
Imagine waking up each day knowing your workplace is a private island—and knowing that your job is to make every guest feel like they have discovered something truly special.
We are looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead the day-to-day resort experience at one of the most unique luxury hospitality destinations in the world.
This is not a traditional General Manager position. This is not an office job.
We are looking for a hands-on hospitality leader who wants to be in the middle of the operation—walking the property, greeting guests, working alongside the Concierge and Front Office teams, checking cottages, talking with Housekeeping, partnering with Engineering, solving problems, and jumping in wherever the team needs you.
You will be the face, heartbeat, and culture carrier of the resort.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As General Manager, you will have direct leadership responsibility for the resort's property operations, including:
· Front Office & Concierge
· Food & Beverage
· Housekeeping
· Engineering & Maintenance
· Boutique Spa
· Guest Services
· Overall resort presentation and guest experience
Our restaurant has an experienced Area Food & Beverage Director, a Restaurant General Manager, and Executive Chef who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the restaurant. The entire Food & Beverage leadership team reports directly to the Resort General Manager. As the Resort General Manager, you will have overall leadership and oversight responsibility for the Food & Beverage operation.
Your focus will be the overall resort experience—from the moment a guest arrives until the moment they depart—and everything in between. You will work collaboratively with each department and leadership team to ensure a seamless, high-quality guest experience across the entire resort.
THIS IS LUXURY HOSPITALITY, DONE PERSONALLY.
We believe true luxury isn't about being formal. It's about being personal.
It's knowing a returning guest's name.
Remembering that they prefer a particular cottage.
Knowing how their family is doing.
Noticing that they haven't been to breakfast yet.
Recognizing an anniversary.
Seeing something that needs attention before the guest ever notices it.
The successful candidate will build genuine relationships with our guests and create an environment where people don't simply stay with us—they come back to see us.
You will personally engage with VIPs, repeat guests, and special occasions while building a culture where the entire team understands the importance of knowing and anticipating our guests' needs.
LEAD FROM THE FRONT.
We want a General Manager who believes that leadership means being present.
You will spend your days throughout the resort—not behind a desk.
You will walk the property every day.
You will inspect cottages and public areas.
You will notice the details.
You will talk to guests.
You will talk to associates.
You will help when someone needs you.
If Housekeeping needs a hand, you help.
If a guest needs assistance, you help.
If Engineering has an issue, you help solve it.
If the Front Desk is busy, you step in.
No job is beneath the General Manager.
Our philosophy is simple:
Never ask someone to do something you wouldn't do yourself.
CREATE A PLACE PEOPLE LOVE TO WORK.
We believe an exceptional guest experience starts with an exceptional employee experience.
One of your most important responsibilities will be creating an environment where people want to come to work, feel valued when they are here, and are proud of what they do.
You will know your team.
You will recognize great work.
You will coach in the moment.
You will develop future leaders.
You will celebrate successes.
And you will hold people accountable when standards aren't met.
We want someone who can walk through the property and know the names of the people working there—not just the names of the department heads.
People will know you are there. And they will know you care.
PROTECT THE DETAILS.
Luxury requires an obsession with the details.
The property should be ship-shape every day.
Guestrooms should be immaculate.
Public spaces should be beautiful.
Maintenance issues should be addressed before they become complaints.
Landscaping, pools, beaches, docks, pathways, cottages, and back-of-house areas should all reflect the same level of pride.
You will have exceptionally high standards—and you will personally inspect what you expect.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a true hospitality professional, not simply someone who has held the title of General Manager.
You may be the right person if:
· You genuinely love taking care of people.
· You have luxury hotel, resort, private club, or high-end hospitality experience.
· You have strong Rooms Division and operational leadership experience.
· You naturally connect with people.
· You are energetic, visible, and approachable.
· You notice details other people miss.
· You have exceptionally high standards for cleanliness and property condition.
· You are comfortable making decisions and solving problems in real time.
· You know how to build trust with both guests and associates.
· You are willing to roll up your sleeves and help.
· You understand that great leadership happens in the operation—not just in meetings.
· You have the confidence to lead while maintaining the humility to serve.
Most importantly, you understand that hospitality is a relationship business.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Six months into this role, we want to see:
Guests who know you. They recognize you, seek you out, and look forward to seeing you when they return.
A team that trusts you. They know you have their back, but they also know you will hold them to a high standard.
A property that shines. Clean, maintained, beautiful, and cared for down to the smallest detail.
A culture that feels different. Positive. Energetic. Supportive. Accountable. Proud.
Guests who come back. Because they didn't simply stay at a beautiful resort—they felt personally cared for.
THIS IS YOUR KIND OF PLACE IF...
You get your energy from people.
You would rather walk the property than sit in an office.
You believe the best way to understand an operation is to be in it.
You enjoy knowing your guests personally.
You believe your team deserves the same level of care you expect them to give your guests.
You see something that needs to be done—and you simply do it.
And you believe that the best luxury experiences don't feel manufactured. They feel genuine.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.
Come lead something extraordinary.
Come build a team people are proud to be part of.
Come create an experience guests will never forget.
