This position performs preventive maintenance, responds to guest maintenance requests, troubleshoots building systems, and completes repairs while supporting Marriott brand standards and Meyer Jabara Hotels' culture of Aggressive Hospitality.This position may be scheduled for either AM (First Shift) or PM (Second Shift) based on business needs. Both shifts play an essential role in maintaining the hotel's 24-hour operation and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Essential FunctionsGuest ServiceProvide prompt, courteous, and professional service to all guests and associates.Respond quickly to guest maintenance requests and resolve issues to the guest's satisfaction.Follow up on completed repairs to ensure guest satisfaction.Maintain a positive, service-oriented attitude at all times.Represent Marriott Providence Downtown and Meyer Jabara Hotels with professionalism.Preventive MaintenancePerform scheduled preventive maintenance throughout guest rooms, public areas, meeting rooms, restaurant, banquet facilities, back-of-house areas, and mechanical equipment.Complete preventive maintenance work orders accurately and on schedule.Assist with seasonal maintenance projects and capital improvement initiatives.Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records and documentation.Building & Equipment MaintenancePerform repairs involving:PlumbingElectrical systemsHVAC equipment

CarpentryDrywall and painting

Flooring and tile

Doors, locks, windows, and hardware

Kitchen and restaurant equipment

Laundry equipment

Furniture and fixtures

Replace light bulbs, filters, batteries, and other routine maintenance items.Maintain hotel appearance in accordance with Marriott brand standards.Report equipment failures requiring outside contractors to the Chief Engineer.Hotel Operations SupportSupport restaurant, lounge, banquet, and meeting room operations by maintaining equipment and facilities.Assist with banquet room setups requiring engineering support.Perform exterior building inspections and grounds maintenance as assigned.Assist with snow removal, landscaping, parking lot maintenance, and exterior cleanliness.Participate in emergency response procedures involving fire alarms, power outages, floods, weather events, or other emergencies.Safety & ComplianceFollow all OSHA, Marriott, Meyer Jabara Hotels, and local safety regulations.Practice proper Lockout/Tagout procedures when required.Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Maintain compliance with fire and life safety standards.Report unsafe conditions immediately.Properly store and handle chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.Documentation & CommunicationMaintain accurate work orders, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and engineering documentation.Document repairs, parts used, and completed work in the hotel's maintenance management system.Notify the Chief Engineer of equipment requiring replacement or major repairs.Maintain engineering inventory and communicate supply needs.Ensure complete communication during shift changes.TeamworkAssist fellow engineers and other hotel departments whenever needed.Cross-train in all engineering responsibilities.Participate in departmental meetings and ongoing training.Support hotel initiatives, quality improvement programs, and operational excellence.Promote teamwork, accountability, and respect throughout the hotel. Shift ResponsibilitiesAM (First Shift)Associates assigned to the AM shift are primarily responsible for preparing the hotel for daily operations by:Performing scheduled preventive maintenance.Completing guest room repairs before check-in whenever possible.Responding to overnight maintenance reports.Coordinating with Housekeeping and Front Office to return out-of-order rooms to inventory.Supporting vendor visits, inspections, and scheduled maintenance projects.Assisting with banquet and meeting room setups.Organizing the Engineering shop, inventory, and storage areas.Completing building inspections and identifying potential maintenance concerns.PM (Second Shift)Associates assigned to the PM shift focus primarily on guest service and evening hotel operations by:Responding promptly to guest maintenance requests during peak occupancy.Supporting restaurant, lounge, banquet, and evening events.Completing maintenance work orders while minimizing disruption to guests.Performing evening inspections of guest floors, public areas, and mechanical spaces.Assisting with banquet room resets and emergency repairs.Preparing the hotel for overnight operations.Communicating outstanding maintenance issues to the overnight or next-day engineering team.Ensuring all work areas, equipment, and tools are clean, organized, and secured before the end of the shift.  ExperienceRequiredMinimum three (3) years of building, facilities, or maintenance experience.Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.PreferredTwo (2) years or more of hotel engineering or hospitality maintenance experience.Experience maintaining commercial kitchen, restaurant, and banquet equipment.Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Skills & QualificationsExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong customer service and communication abilities.Ability to prioritize multiple work orders in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to read manuals, blueprints, and technical diagrams.Basic computer skills for work order management and documentation.Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins.Reliable transportation.Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.Professional appearance and demeanor.Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and ownership.Supports teamwork to than 75 pounds with assistance.Frequent standing and walking throughout the property.Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, and reaching overhead.Ability to climb ladders and safely work at heights.Ability to work in confined mechanical spaces.Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment safely.Ability to respond quickly throughout the
