Hours: Any 3 weekdays; Guaranteed 20 hours/week

Hourly Rate: $30-40 depending on experience

Paid Vacation:

• 1 week employer choice

Responsibilities and Duties

WHO/WHAT: Do you notice the crooked picture, the dying plant, the lightbulb that's been out for three days—and the fingerprints on the refrigerator? Perfect. We have a house for you. This Pittsburgh couple is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys caring for a home and takes pride in keeping it clean, organized, stocked, and running beautifully. About 75% of this role will be hands-on housekeeping, with the remaining 25% focused on household management. They split their time between Pittsburgh and a second home in another state, travel regularly, and would simply like to spend less time keeping track of all the cleaning, upkeep, and little details required to make a household run well.

They're not looking for someone who needs a perfectly itemized list each morning. They're looking for the person who notices the bathroom could use another wipe-down, the refrigerator needs cleaning, the pantry contains something that expired in 2024, or the refrigerator filter needs changing. In other words: if you notice it, they'd love for you to own it.

THE JOB: Most of your time will be spent providing thorough, hands-on housekeeping throughout the home—cleaning kitchens and bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, changing linens, making beds, doing laundry, occasional ironing, and keeping rooms consistently clean, tidy, and well cared for. You'll also keep the refrigerator and pantry clean, stocked, and organized; handle grocery shopping; assist with produce and simple meal prep; manage dry cleaning, errands, and returns; and tackle household projects like organizing closets and drawers, switching seasonal clothing, straightening storage areas, and keeping the garage in order. They're happy to do the cooking; they'd just be delighted to discover the salad ingredients washed and the garlic already chopped.

The other 25% of your role is where your household-management instincts come in. You'll keep an eye on maintenance needs, schedule and meet HVAC technicians, electricians, window washers, landscapers, pest control, vehicle service, and other vendors—and make sure what was supposed to get done actually got done.

When the couple is traveling, you'll become their trusted local point person. You'll continue thorough housekeeping, laundry, shopping, and home upkeep while also regularly checking the property for leaks or maintenance concerns, running faucets and appliances, watering plants, keeping an eye on the yard and exterior, coordinating service appointments, and making sure everything is just as it should be. Before they return? A beautifully clean home and stocked refrigerator waiting for them would be the cherry on top.

THE IDEAL HOUSEKEEPER/HOUSEHOLD MANAGER IS... SOMEONE WHO NOTICES. First and foremost, you genuinely enjoy housekeeping. You don't view cleaning as the task you have to finish before getting to the "management" part of the job—you take pride in a sparkling kitchen, freshly made bed, organized refrigerator, and home that simply feels cared for. You're also proactive, flexible, dependable, communicative, trustworthy, and armed with plenty of common sense. You understand that on any given day, the job might mean thoroughly cleaning the bathrooms, changing the linens, coordinating an electrician, organizing a closet, and noticing that the car needs service. You're comfortable with all of it. This couple isn't particularly rigid or schedule-driven, and they're hoping to find someone who appreciates that flexibility and wants to become a trusted part of their lives for years to come.THE DREAM: Eventually, they stop walking around the house mentally cataloging everything that needs attention. They don't have to think about whether the bathrooms were cleaned, the sheets were changed, the HVAC was serviced, the refrigerator is stocked, or someone checked under the sinks while they're away.
