Housekeeper - Omega HospitalPosition SummaryThe Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout the hospital. This position performs routine and specialized cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and other designated areas in accordance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and applicable safety procedures. The Housekeeper supports a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.Essential ResponsibilitiesClean and disinfect patient rooms, treatment areas, offices, restrooms, hallways, waiting areas, and other designated hospital areas.Follow established cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfection procedures to support infection prevention and control.Safely handle and dispose of trash, regulated medical waste, and other materials in accordance with hospital procedures and applicable requirements.Clean and maintain floors, carpets, windows, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces using appropriate equipment and cleaning products.Replenish paper products, soap, disinfectants, and other supplies as needed.Operate and properly maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuums, floor machines, and other assigned equipment.Follow proper procedures for handling and storing cleaning chemicals and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).Respond to spills, accidents, and other environmental cleaning needs promptly and appropriately.Maintain assigned housekeeping areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, supply shortages, safety hazards, and other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.Follow hospital policies and procedures related to patient safety, infection prevention, confidentiality, and workplace safety.Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital staff.Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information encountered during the performance of job duties.Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous housekeeping, environmental services, healthcare, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including cleaning and infection prevention procedures.Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and required PPE.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards while working independently or as part of a team.Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate judgment in a healthcare setting.The Ideal Candidate Will HaveStrong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation.Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.Professional, courteous, and respectful communication skills.Ability to work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.Ability to follow established procedures and safety requirements consistently.Flexibility and willingness to assist with a variety of housekeeping and environmental services needs.Positive attitude and commitment to providing a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentFrequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull while performing housekeeping duties.Frequently use hands and arms to operate cleaning equipment, handle cleaning supplies, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning supplies, equipment, trash, and other materials.Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds and move heavier items or equipment with appropriate assistance or mechanical aids.Work may involve prolonged standing and walking throughout the workday.Work is performed in a hospital environment with regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, infectious materials, odors, and varying noise levels.May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow infection prevention and other hospital safety protocols.May work around patients, visitors, medical equipment, and other hospital personnel.
