Job Description
Position SummaryThe HR Business Partner II (HRBP II) serves as a strategic advisor to business leaders, delivering comprehensive HR support in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This role partners closely with operations and leadership to drive business performance through effective people strategies while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations.The HRBP II plays a critical role in balancing operational priorities with employee engagement, risk mitigation, and organizational development, while fostering a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace culture.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Partnership
Partner with operational leaders to align HR strategies with business objectivesProvide guidance on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent developmentLeverage workforce data to inform decisions and improve performance outcomes
Employee Relations & Investigations
Lead complex employee relations matters, including complaints and conflict resolutionConduct thorough, objective, and legally defensible investigationsDeliver clear findings and recommendations to ensure consistency and minimize risk
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, and DOT/FMCSAPartner with Legal on high-risk matters, terminations, and accommodationsSupport audits, documentation standards, and unemployment claims processing
Performance Management & Coaching
Coach leaders on performance management, feedback, and corrective actionDrive consistent application of company policies and accountability standardsSupport leaders in addressing performance gaps and improving team effectiveness
Accommodation & Leave Management
Guide ADA interactive process and assess reasonable accommodationsPartner on administration of FMLA, CFRA, and other leave programsReview medical documentation and support complex case resolution
Talent & Engagement
Support succession planning, leadership development, and engagement initiativesIdentify turnover drivers and implement targeted retention strategiesPromote a culture of accountability, safety, and respect
Policy & Training
Contribute to development and implementation of HR policies and SOPsEnsure consistent policy application across business unitsSupport training on compliance, leadership, and HR best practices
QualificationsEducation & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field7+ years of progressive HR experience, including HRBP or employee relations rolesExperience in transportation, logistics, or regulated industries strongly preferred
Certifications
SPHR, PHR, or SHRM-SCP preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of employment law and regulatory complianceProven ability to conduct complex investigations and document findings clearlyExcellent communication and influencing skills across all organizational levelsStrong judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilityAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentHigh level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrityBilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Working Conditions
Hybrid schedule: Remote Monday & Friday; onsite Tuesday-ThursdayOccasional travel to terminals and operational sitesRequires handling of sensitive and confidential information with discretion
