Job Summary:

The HR Business Partner role brings Courage, Curiosity, and Compassion to life by supporting leaders and associates directly in our stores; showing up, following through, and helping teams succeed where the work happens. This hands on HR role partners closely with field leaders on employee relations, performance support, onboarding, and day to day people needs, while also jumping into retail initiatives, projects, and operational execution. You'll be in the details, in the field, and in the moment, building trust, solving problems, and ensuring our HR programs land with consistency, care, and impact across the retail organization.

This is a Southeast Michigan-based position, with a hybrid schedule, on site at Headquarters when not supporting stores in the Michigan market.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides counsel to Supervisors and managers at their geography/location by proactively identifying issues and opportunities within their teams and supporting them in taking action, may drive local initiatives and executing plans.
  • Participates in a wide variety of HR initiatives and projects across multiple Human Resource disciplines, including performance management, culture building, change management, diversity and inclusion, safety leadership and governance and compliance.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line managers to ensure consistent execution of the performance management process.
  • Coaches and guide managers through moderate to complex employee relations issues and conducting thorough and objective investigations as needed.
  • Works closely with managers, supervisors and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and engagement and ensure leadership and employees have a direct and productive working relationship including open communications and problem solving.
  • Partners closely with People Central to provide strong HR service delivery to our client groups.
  • Supports the talent management strategy for their client group including developing robust succession planning/talent management, developing internal talent, and supporting the recruiting strategy to ensure we have the right people at the right time.
  • Facilitates new hire onboarding.

SCOPE & IMPACT:

This position is responsible for all Human Resource activities at the location(s) they are assigned. The role serves as a consultant to site managers and supervisors on human resource-related issues. Responsible for driving and supporting change in the organization. Acts as an employee advocate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field with 4-6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of Supervisory/Leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated project management skill and track record of measurable accomplishments.
  • Travel Required: Up to 10%

PREFERED REQUIREMENTS:

  • MBA
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Varies by location with 0-2 direct reports

Operates in a professional office environment, not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
