Job Description

Teledyne FLIR is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner (HRBP) to support our largest division within the Defense business. Based in Wilsonville, Oregon, this role provides strategic partnership to leaders across a complex, high-performing global organization with operations throughout the United States, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates. This position will travel approximately 25% - 30% including domestic and occasional international travel.

Someone who understands how talent, organization design, culture, leadership effectiveness, and workforce planning directly impact business performance. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to leaders, leveraging data-driven insights to influence decisions, develop talent strategies, solve complex organizational challenges, and drive business outcomes. What You'll Do:

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as the lead HR Partner for the largest division within the Defense business, partnering closely with leadership at all levels.

  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing counsel on organizational effectiveness, talent strategies, workforce planning, leadership development, succession planning, employee engagement, and change management.

  • Translate business objectives into people strategies that drive growth, operational excellence, innovation, and organizational performance.

  • Anticipate business needs and proactively identify talent-related risks and opportunities.

Drive Organizational Performance Through Data & Insights

  • Utilize workforce analytics, talent data, and business metrics to identify trends, diagnose organizational challenges, and influence leadership decision-making.

  • Develop and communicate actionable insights related to retention, engagement, productivity, succession readiness, organizational health, and workforce capability.

  • Partner with leaders to create strategic action plans that improve business outcomes and strengthen organizational effectiveness.

  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and advanced analytics to simplify complex data and provide meaningful recommendations for leaders.

Talent & Leadership Development

  • Lead talent review, succession planning, and development planning processes across the organization.

  • Coach leaders at all levels to build leadership capability, enhance employee engagement, and strengthen team performance.

  • Drive initiatives that attract, develop, engage, and retain top talent.

  • Partner with leaders to identify critical capability gaps and implement development strategies aligned with future business needs.

Employee Relations & Culture Leadership

  • Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, investigations, performance management, and organizational issues.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Support leaders in building high-performing teams while maintaining compliance with company policies and employment laws.

  • Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and reinforce company values across geographically dispersed teams.

Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with HR colleagues and business leaders across multiple countries and regions to deliver consistent, scalable HR solutions.

  • Support organizational growth, restructuring, acquisitions, workforce planning, and change initiatives as needed.

  • Share HR best practices and influence the development of enterprise-wide programs and policies.

  • Lead or participate in strategic HR projects with visibility across the broader Defense organizations.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • 7-10+ years of progressive HR Business Generalist or HR Business Partner experience supporting senior business leaders.

  • Demonstrated success operating as a strategic advisor.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect people strategies to business performance.

  • Experience using workforce analytics, business metrics, and data-driven insights to influence decision-making.

  • Deep knowledge of employee relations, organizational development, talent management, workforce planning, and change management.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR compliance requirements.

  • Exceptional communication, influence, coaching, and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience working within complex, matrixed, and geographically dispersed organizations.

  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably Workday, and advanced Microsoft Office skills.

  • Able and willing to travel 25-30% domestic and occasional international travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP).

  • Experience supporting global organizations and international workforce populations.

  • Experience leading organizational transformations, change initiatives, and talent management programs.

  • Strong analytical mindset with experience leveraging AI tools, dashboards, and workforce analytics.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and drive results through collaboration.
