Job Description

At ProService Hawaii, we exist to empower employers to succeed, and the HR Consultant is central to that mission. In this role, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to Hawaii businesses navigating complex employment challenges: investigations, regulatory compliance, sensitive workforce decisions, discipline, compensation, and everything in between. You won't be embedded in a single organization — you'll be advising dozens of them, each with its own culture, leadership style, and risk profile. This is the kind of HR work that calls on your expertise every day, not the kind of HR work that leaves you buried in administrative work.

What sets this role apart is breadth. You'll field a wide range of complex HR questions across industries and company sizes, translate dense employment law into clear business guidance. If you thrive in a dynamic advisory environment and can hold a compliance position while staying genuinely client-centered, this role is built for you.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

  • Advise clients on employee relations, harassment and discrimination claims, performance management, and terminations

  • Interpret and apply Hawaii and federal employment law — such as EEOC, ADA, FMLA, HFLL, wage and hour — to real business situations

  • Conduct and support workplace investigations from intake through resolution

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver coordinated, proactive client support

  • Manage a diverse caseload with consistent documentation in Salesforce

  • Translate regulatory complexity into clear, actionable guidance for non-HR audiences

IS THIS ROLE RIGHT FOR YOU?

This role is built for HR professionals who are ready to advise. You’ll be supporting clients across a wide range of industries and situations, which means your depth of knowledge in HR compliance and employee relations is what makes you effective. For the nuanced or niche questions that fall outside your experience, you’ll have the opportunity, resources, and team to work through them thoughtfully.

What clients count on is that someone who knows HR compliance deeply is in their corner, someone responsive, grounded, and genuinely invested in helping them make good decisions. If that’s how you already operate, you’ll feel at home here.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Demonstrated experience delivering HR compliance guidance across employee relations, investigations, performance management, or organizational development

  • Proven ability to advise executives, managers, and small business owners on sensitive employment matters — and flex your communication style to the audience

  • Experience managing workplace investigations end-to-end, including situations with contested facts and legal exposure

  • Strong command of Hawaii and federal employment law — such as EEOC, ADA, FMLA, HFLL, wage and hour — and the ability to apply it practically under time pressure

  • The written and verbal communication skills to make complex regulatory guidance accessible to non-HR audiences

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred, but not required
