Job Description
The Capital District YMCA's Human Resources Dept is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team in the role of HR Generalist. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community. Under the general direction of the Sr. VP of Human Resources, the Human Resource Generalist is accountable and responsible for performing complex duties in the area of all areas of HR including but not limited to: recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, development and administration of human resource policies and programs; responsibility for the development of payroll and benefits programs, policies and administration, training and staff development, wage and salary maintenance/administration, and the compliance of all personnel-related records and legal compliance. As a member of the Human Resources Team will participate in the management and direction of the Association and accepts assignments that may contribute to that objective.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources or Business related field. 1 to 3 years' experience in Human Resources.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Excellent mathematical aptitude, customer service skills, and ability to work in a decentralized environment.
- Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Must possess the ability to creatively problem solve Human Resources issues and drive solutions across the association.
- Must possess the ability to visualize a need to change and seek to drive necessary business improvements.
- Knowledge benefits, payroll, Payroll/HR Systems (UKG) policies and procedures.
- Must place a high priority on confidentiality, attention to detail communication and professional demeanor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Will assist with the development and administration of employee benefits program, compensation plan, pay policies, and performance management process. Monitor each for effectiveness and cost containment.
- Structure a program that ensures the development and implementation of progressive Human Resource policies, which support the business goals.
- Help with the recruitment/onboarding process for open vacancies. Implements effective and innovative recruitment methods and monitors the success of such. Participate in the hiring and selection, supervision, and development plans for all staff.
- Help to restart staff development and recognition programs; including New Employee Orientation, Leadership Development training; YMCA of the USA Training and Certifications, and other training as needed.
- Ensure organizational compliance with applicable state, local, and federal regulations; identifies legal requirements affecting human resource functions.
- Help to develop, implement and deliver training programs for staff on human resources/legal issues and Leadership Development topics.
- Structure human resource and employee relations activities to provide rewards and recognition for employees.
- Provide Human Resources assistance for current and future Management Agreements with other YMCAs.
- Monitor employee relations and advise management staff as needed. Create monitoring tools to measure such.
