Job Description

If you’re an HR Generalist who:

  • Gets bored doing the same thing every day

  • Wants autonomy without being on an island

  • Enjoys rolling up your sleeves and thinking strategically

  • Likes building real relationships with leaders and employees

You might have just found your next home.

At HR Value Partners, we provide hands-on, fractional HR support to small and mid-sized organizations that don’t have internal HR. Our Generalists do real HR work every day. You will personally handle a meaningful amount of hands-on HR while also owning bigger-picture direction for your clients.

This role blends execution, problem-solving, and consulting. It is dynamic, fast-moving, and designed for people who want variety, ownership, and continuous growth.

What Your Day-to-Day Actually Looks Like

You will personally perform both hands-on HR work and higher-level consulting for your clients.

This is not a “pure strategy” role.

You will be in the weeds when needed handling employee relations, documentation, policy updates, employee questions, and compliance-related tasks. You will also step back to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

You will support up to 6 client companies. You will have:

  • A shared client-facing HR Administrator

  • An internal sourcing/admin support team for overflow work

  • Other Generalists who serve as thought partners and backups

You will personally perform a meaningful portion of the work. You will also leverage support when volume spikes or projects require extra capacity. Ownership of the work and outcomes ultimately sits with you.

Expect roughly 12 onsite client days per month, with the remainder remote, plus regular phone and email support.

The Work You’ll Personally Perform and Own

Core HR & Compliance

  • Employee relations guidance and documentation

  • Performance management, coaching, and disciplinary support (including drafting documentation)

  • Handbook and policy development/maintenance

  • Basic employment law compliance (wage/hour, leave, benefits, workers’ comp, etc.)

Talent Lifecycle

  • Actively participate in and oversee recruiting and selection processes

  • Own onboarding and orientation

  • Guide performance reviews, development, and succession planning

  • Support compensation and benefits administration

Consulting & Projects

  • Conduct HR and compliance audits

  • Build prioritized action plans

  • Lead and execute HR projects

  • Translate business goals into practical HR solutions

Why People Like Working Here

  • Significant autonomy and trust

  • Variety across industries and client types

  • Small-team environment where you are known and valued

  • Clear client ownership

  • Administrative support that flexes with workload

  • Quarterly in-office team meetings and regular social events

  • Established and growing company with 13+ years in business

We aim to maintain a “small business” feel even as we grow. We collaborate, support each other, and care about doing good work.

You’re Likely a Great Fit If You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field

  • Minimum 3+ years HR Generalist experience (manufacturing experience a plus)

  • HR Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar)

  • Strong working knowledge of the full employment lifecycle

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Sound judgment, maturity, and professional presence

  • Comfort managing multiple priorities

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and HRIS/ATS platforms

Important Logistics

  • Client sites may be up to ~2 hours from Mount Pleasant, WI

  • Mondays and Fridays are generally office-based or remote

  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) with match

The Bottom Line
