Job Description

Job Description:

Are you an HR professional-or an upcoming HR graduate-who is energized by recruiting and building strong talent pipelines, especially for assembly and skilled trades roles? Do you enjoy being hands-on, partnering with leaders, and making a visible impact on the workforce?

Miller Electric, an ITW company, is seeking an HR Generalist with a primary focus on Talent Acquisition to support our Components Division. This role is heavily focused on full-cycle recruiting for assembly, skilled trades, and hourly manufacturing positions. It is an excellent opportunity for an early-career HR professional or a May HR graduate who is eager to build a strong foundation in recruiting, while gaining exposure to broader HR generalist responsibilities over time.

What You Will Do and Impact

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding (Primary Focus)

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for assembly, skilled trades, and other hourly manufacturing roles, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to build ongoing talent pipelines (job boards, referrals, community partnerships, technical schools, workforce agencies, etc.).
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and support effective hiring decisions.
  • Conduct interviews and assist with hiring recommendations aligned with business needs and company values.
  • Coordinate job offers, pre-employment processes, and start dates.
  • Support onboarding activities to ensure a positive new-hire experience.
  • Maintain recruiting documentation and required recordkeeping, including Affirmative Action Plan support.
  • Promote a positive candidate experience and employer brand.

HR Support & Development Opportunities

  • Provide day-to-day HR support to leaders and employees, with guidance from senior HR team members.
  • Assist with basic employee relations activities such as policy interpretation, documentation support, and coaching.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and HR programs.
  • Facilitate or assist with mandatory training such as Harassment-Free Workplace and other compliance training.
  • Gain exposure to performance management, rewards programs, and additional HR functions as part of professional development.

HR Administration & Projects

  • Maintain HRIS data accuracy and assist with reporting.
  • Support payroll-related questions and act as a payroll liaison for the division.
  • Assist with FMLA/Leave of Absence administration.
  • Participate in HR projects and special initiatives as assigned.

What You Need to Be Successful in This Role

  • Strong interest in recruiting and talent acquisition, particularly in a manufacturing or skilled trades environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (completed or expected by May).
  • Internship, co-op, part-time, or early-career experience in HR or recruiting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Minimal travel required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (completed or expected by May).
  • 0-2+ years of experience in recruiting, HR, or a related role.
