Job Description

We, at Leggett & Platt Flooring Products, are searching for a Human Resources Generalist for our Morris, IL location, employing approximately 60 employees. Did you know Leggett & Platt Inc. is the largest manufacturer of carpet cushion and hard surface underlayment in the United States?  Our Flooring businesses manufacture and distribute foam, rubber, and fiber-based flooring underlayment for residential and commercial use. Our flooring underlayment products provide support, cushioning, and noise reduction under virtually any finished flooring material in your home or business. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

So, what will you be doing as an HR Generalist?

  • Coordinate recruiting, advertising, and hiring processes for incoming talent
  • Support the administration of the branch Affirmative Action plan
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding activities
  • Maintain relationships with temporary staffing agencies and assist with workforce needs
  • Partner with branch management to promote consistent application of company policies
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefit programs
  • Support FMLA and Disability processes and assist with Workers’ Compensation coordination alongside the Safety Manager
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees regarding employee relations matters
  • Assist with employee relations activities and internal communications
  • Prepare separation paperwork, conduct exit interviews, and track turnover trends
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws and reporting requirements
  • Support training initiatives, performance management processes, and development programs
  • Assist in coordinating employee engagement activities and communications
  • Perform other duties as assigned

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources or a related field
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Things we consider a plus:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related area
  • SHRM or PHR certification 
  • Experience in a labor union environment
