About the Role

The Part-Time HR Generalist manages a wide range of Human Resources responsibilities with a significant focus on leave administration, disability management, and workers' compensation coordination. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees, managers, supervisors, payroll, and third-party vendors to ensure leaves and workers' compensation cases are administered accurately and efficiently. The position also supports employee engagement initiatives and various HR projects across the organization.

This is a hybrid position, meaning much of the work can be accomplished remotely. However, this position is expected to come to the office regularly for specific tasks and may be asked to visit and work out of other worksites.

How You Will Be Making a Difference

  • Coordinates and administers employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, PFML, disability, and other protected and non-protected leaves.
  • Serves as the liaison between employees, managers, supervisors, payroll, HR, and third-party leave and workers' compensation vendors to ensure timely communication and effective case management.
  • Tracks leave and workers' compensation cases from initiation through return to work, ensuring all required documentation, status changes, deadlines, and follow-up actions are completed.
  • Maintains accurate employee status, leave records, and related HRIS transactions within UKG and ensures appropriate payroll processing during leave periods.
  • Monitors employee return-to-work dates, work restrictions, accommodations, and transitional duty assignments, coordinating with managers and HR leadership as necessary.
  • Assists managers and supervisors in understanding leave and workers' compensation processes and responsibilities to ensure compliance with agency policies and applicable laws.
  • Coordinates workers' compensation claims administration, including incident reporting, claim follow-up, communication with vendors, and return-to-work activities.
  • Provide coverage in UKG system, worker's comp, and LOA's during vacations and other time frames

Education and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years experience and knowledge of Human Resources
  • Demonstrated experience managing the operational workflow associated with employee leaves and workers' compensation claims, including employee communications, manager follow-up, vendor coordination, HRIS updates, and payroll-related status changes.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems
  • Strong knowledge of FMLA, PFML, ADA, workers' compensation, and other applicable federal and state leave laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain high level of professionalism and strict confidentiality
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion
  • BA or equivalent strongly preferred
  • PHR preferred
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications
