Job Description
Summary:
The HR Intern will support the Human Resources department by assisting with daily administrative and HR-related tasks. This role provides hands-on experience in various aspects of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, compliance, and recordkeeping. The HR Intern will gain exposure to HR practices and policies while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communication.
- Support onboarding activities such as preparing new hire packets, assisting with orientation sessions, and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Help maintain HR databases and personnel files to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Participate in employee engagement initiatives, events, and recognition programs.
- Assist with the preparation of HR reports, presentations, and metrics tracking.
- Provide support with compliance-related tasks, such as ensuring policy acknowledgments and training completions are up to date.
- Research HR best practices and support projects as assigned.
- Perform general administrative duties such as filing, copying, data entry, and responding to employee inquiries.
Qualifications
- Education / Experience: Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. Previous office or administrative experience is preferred but not required. High school diploma required.
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Other Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with HR systems or databases is preferred but not required.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Adaptability to change priorities and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Anticipated Hours: 20-25 hours per week with scheduling flexibility
