Theâ¯HR Manager (Benefits & HR Administration) â¯will oversee all aspects of UGN’s benefits and wellness programs. This position will develop both short and long-term strategies and will ensure UGN, Inc. offers a robust and cost-effective benefit program. In addition to benefits, this position will oversee leave of absence administration, immigration, and some HRIS activities.
What you will do for UGN:
- Manage and administer the full U.S. Team Member benefits portfolio, including self-insured medical plans, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life, and disability programs.
- Serves as a partner providing support to Plant HR Teams, Corporate HR Team, and Corporate Team Members for any HR related requests, escalates questions or concerns when appropriate to the Director/VP of HR.
- Develop short and long-term benefit strategies and present to the Vice President of Human Resources.
- Design benefit programs that are comprehensive and robust to provide a competitive benefit package to Team Members while being cost-effective.
- Strategize with the benefit broker and lead annual planning meetings. Maintain strong partnerships with the benefit broker and benefit vendors.
- Promote UGN’s benefits and develop communications highlighting various benefit offerings. Respond to questions from HR users and Team Members regarding benefits.â¯Work with benefit contacts on escalated issues.
- Oversee the open enrollment process for all US benefit-eligible Team Members. Work in conjunction with the benefit broker to review benefit usage and prepare for open enrollment.â¯
- Develop communications and promote UGN’s open enrollment process. Attend and coordinate open enrollment meetings at Downers Grove and all US plant locations.
- Develop a comprehensive Team Member wellness program; develop wellness communications and promote the program during the year.
- Oversee UGN’s leave of absence program and work with the external disability insurance carrier. Provide advice and guidance to plant human resources regarding leave of absence policies.â¯
- Oversee UGN’s paid time off program and work in conjunction with the Payroll department to ensure PTO is administered effectively.
- Oversee and maintain contracts for all HR vendors. Lead annual vendor review analysis and participate in contract negotiations.
- Manage UGN’s immigration process and Visa process. Partner with external legal counsel and UGN management on immigration requests and issues. Develop analyses and reports related to immigration costs.
- Respond to unemployment claims for Downers Grove Team Members; assist plant HR with unemployment questions, and ensure claims are responded to within a timely manner.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of current legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting comply.â¯Share information with plant HR teams.
- Partner with the Learning & Development Manager to update the new Team Member onboarding program each year.â¯
- Manage various human resources administrative activities, including processing benefit invoices, updating organizational charts, performing data entry into UKG , and overseeing file feeds from UKG to benefit carriers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you will bring to UGN:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in business or another related discipline.â¯
- 5 - 7 + years of benefits and human resources experience. Prior experience with UKG strongly preferred.â¯
- 2 + years of experience working with self-funded benefits plans
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to oversee a wide variety of projects and processes.â¯
- Collaborative team player with the ability to interact with plant human resources and Team Members at all levels of the organization.â¯
- Demonstrated experience creating, running, and interpreting reports from HRIS and benefits platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.â¯
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.â¯
- Ability to train small or large groups of people.â¯
- CEBS or PHR certification is a plus.â¯

Pay range: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00, and participation in our annual incentive plan. If you are offered this position at UGN, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location. In addition to those factors, UGN considers internal equity among current Team Members when developing the final offer.
Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefit package for full-time Team Members, including medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, 401K with company match, short and long-term disability insurance, and paid time off, including 10 paid holidays.
