Job Type: Full-TimeIf you're an experienced HR professional who enjoys being the go-to resource for employees and leaders, improving processes, and helping build a strong workplace - this could be a great fit.At NIX Construction, our HR Manager serves as a key HR resource across the organization, supporting both employees and leadership in a wide range of Human Resources functions. You'll have the opportunity to make an impact across onboarding, employee relations, benefits, compliance, performance management, compensation, training, HR systems, and employee engagement.This isn't a role where you'll focus on just one area of HR. We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and can balance the day-to-day needs of employees with the bigger-picture needs of the organization.You'll work closely with company leadership and field management to strengthen HR practices, support employees, improve retention and engagement, and help ensure our people practices support the company's operational goals.What You'll Be DoingManage post-offer onboarding and orientation, ensuring new employees have a smooth transition into the organization
Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees, supervisors, and leadership on employee relations, policies, performance, and workplace concerns
Coach and support managers with performance management, corrective action, employee communication, and documentation
Conduct and support workplace investigations and recommend consistent, well-documented next steps
Administer employee benefits and leave programs, including open enrollment, qualifying life events, employee education, and required documentation
Conduct compensation research, market benchmarking, and internal pay analysis to support competitive and equitable pay decisions
Maintain HR policies, employee records, job descriptions, standard operating procedures, and other HR documentation
Monitor employment law and regulatory changes and help ensure company HR practices remain current and compliant
Administer HR systems, reporting, workflows, employee records, and program tracking
Coordinate employee training, leadership development, engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events

Experience with employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and policy administration
Experience independently managing multiple HR functions and advising managers and senior leadership
Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and supporting corrective action and performance management
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Experience developing HR policies, SOPs, job descriptions, and compliant HR documentation
Experience administering employee benefits and leave programs
Experience using HRIS, payroll systems, benefit platforms, and HR reporting tools
Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, judgment, confidentiality, and conflict-resolution skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and TeamsPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
Experience in construction, skilled trades, field services, or a similar operational industry
Experience supporting both office and field-based employeesPHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
