Job Description
Our client, a well-established transportation and logistics company in Burlington, NJ, is seeking a detail-oriented HR/Payroll Coordinator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage multiple priorities while ensuring payroll accuracy for a large workforce.
The Payroll Coordinator will support payroll processing for approximately 450 company employees and 240 owner operators. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess strong attention to detail, and be comfortable working with payroll systems, including AS400.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on time for company employees and owner operators
- Utilize the AS400 system for owner operator payroll processing
- Review, edit, and verify employee timecards
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and errors
- Process attendance records and payroll-related documentation
- Maintain payroll records, including W-2s and tax forms
- Coordinate with Human Resources regarding employee status changes, including new hires, terminations, and wage adjustments
- Oversee electronic payroll payments and distribution of payroll checks
- Process bonuses, severance pay, taxes, workers' compensation, and other payroll-related deductions or compensations
- Manage benefit-related payroll expenses, including insurance deductions and paid leave
- Generate payroll reports for management as requested
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and compensation
- Assist with payroll audits and requests from regulatory agencies, including the IRS
- Send monthly employee birthday and anniversary cards
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Payroll Clerk, Payroll Coordinator, or similar payroll role
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and procedures
- Experience with payroll systems; ADP experience preferred
- Experience working with AS400 is a plus
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data management
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask and transition efficiently between priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of payroll and employment regulations, including FLSA and related payroll legislation
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
