Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The HR Staffing Assistant oversees the student employment process while also performing various administrative duties for the Staffing team and manages the HR front desk and reception area.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage full cycle recruiting process for students (job postings, applications, offer letters and onboarding) 
  • Vet and manage all student applications and route them to the hiring manager
  • Aid students in the process of finding open positions that match their interest
  • Work closely with hiring managers to obtain knowledge of their needs and aide in generating student interest
  • Maintain student database and regularly review for active employment
  • Review student job descriptions and appropriately communicate age restrictions
  • Create a positive experience for students and hiring managers during the application and onboarding process while maintaining compliance with federal and state legislation
  • Participate and aid in orientation and student check-in
  • Aid international students by communicating and adhering to policies put in place by USCIS
  • Create a welcoming environment for the HR office by managing the front desk and greeting all visitors to the office, assisting them with general questions, and referring them to the appropriate HR team member
  • Assists with all internal and external job postings
  • Assist the Staffing team as needed at various points in the hiring process
  • Conduct reference and background checks for all potential employees
  • Assist with onboarding all new employees by completed I-9’s and E-verify
  • Manage the team inbox and correspond in a friendly, professional manner
  • Communicate the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
  • Answer questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and even welcome them
  • Strong self-starter
  • Team oriented
  • Demonstrates good discernment and decision making
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills – in person, on the phone and in writing
  • Ability to navigate across various platforms
  • Creatively contribute towards recruiting efforts
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Willingness to help out as needed
  • Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of related experience preferred
