Job Description
Identify, recruit and recommend approval of applicants for District support services job openings who are qualified and capable of ensuring consistently high educational benefits to District students. Develop and implement staff development programs for support services employees and assists the Director of Personnel and Staff Development in staff related activities.

- High School Diploma or GED required; college experience preferred.
- Three years of related work experience preferred; personnel experience required.
- Three years of work experience with the public preferred.
- Excellent customer service required.
- Professional image required.
- Valid Alaska Driver License Required.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
Preference: lnupiaq speaking and cultural experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Position
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local personnel/human resource policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of use of personal computer and standard word processing and spreadsheet software to prepare memoranda and reports suitable for general distribution (Excel, Word).
- Ability to read, explains, and applies complex rules, regulations and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately input data in the Human Resources System (Tyler Technologies), manage the program to identify, recruit and select the best-qualified applicants. Manage the program to effectively advertise job openings.
- Assure that the screening process is performed in a fair, systematic and consistent manner.
- Analyze official transcripts to determine salary placement for certified employees.
- Work with the State Department of Education, Teacher Certification regarding certification.
- Work with the State Department of Education, complete certified staffing report
- Maintain certified employee job descriptions.
- Interface with employees and the public regarding questions on personnel procedures.
- Ensure that all employees receive an annual evaluation pursuant to District policies.
- Provide a classified employee wage and benefit studies.
- Prepare documents, compile material, and assist with the annual job fairs.
- Administer drug and alcohol tests utilizing federal drug and alcohol testing procedures.
- Calibrate and verify the evidential breath alcohol-testing devices as required and maintain quality control standards of the device.
- Research and complete verifications of service as necessary.
- Conduct temporary and permanent hire orientation when necessary.
- Cross train with other employees within the department and provide coverage as needed.
- Assist in the development of and recommend program policies.
- Manage the District's Anti-Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality with personnel records and information.
- Maintain personnel databases and applicant files.
- Travel to and work within the District villages as required.
- Maintain employee files and releases to the authorized persons.
Additional Functions
- Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
- Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.
