Job Description

Summary/Primary Role:

This is a hands-on, field-forward leadership role responsible for managing the on-site execution of commercial construction projects with a strong emphasis on mechanical (HVAC) and MEP systems. This individual serves as the primary on-site leader, overseeing projects from preconstruction through closeout across both ground-up (start to finish) retrofit environments. The ideal candidate brings deep HVAC and mechanical expertise, strong project management capabilities, and the ability to bridge field operations with executive oversight. This role requires ownership of schedules, budgets, safety, and quality, while driving coordination between subcontractors, field teams, engineers, and stakeholders.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution

  • Lead full project lifecycle execution, including preconstruction, mobilization, field operations, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Manageground-up retrofit/renovation projects, with a focus on mechanical and MEP system integration.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, manpower plans, and procurement strategies.
  • Track progress, identify risks, and proactively implement mitigation plans to maintain schedule and budget adherence.
  • Oversee contract execution and ensure alignment with scope, sequencing, and project deliverables.

HVAC / MEP Expertise

  • Manage mechanical scopes including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and support coordination with electrical systems.
  • Lead integration of complex systems such as HVAC and geothermal (where applicable) into overall construction workflows.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings for accuracy and constructability.
  • Identify and resolve clashes, RFIs, and scope gaps early in the construction process.
  • Support system commissioning, testing, and turnover to ensure operational readiness.

Field Leadership

  • Serve as the senior on-site construction leader and primary point of contact.
  • Direct and coordinate subcontractors, field teams, foremen, and vendors across all trades.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site walks, safety audits, and quality control inspections.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance across the jobsite.
  • Mentor and support junior staff and field personnel.

Safety & Quality Oversight

  • Enforce and continuously improve site safety programs, ensuring full compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Maintain strict adherence to quality control processes and installation standards.
  • Lead incident prevention efforts and ensure proper documentation and reporting.

Communication & Coordination

  • Act as the on-site liaison between ownership, general contractors, engineers, inspectors, and internal leadership.
  • Lead coordination meetings and provide clear, consistent project updates and reporting.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration between field operations, engineering, and project management teams.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, schedules, and reports.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 8–15+ years of progressive experience in construction, with a strong emphasis on mechanical or MEP systems.
  • Proven experience managing full lifecycle commercial construction projects, including both ground-up retrofit work.
  • Strong background in HVAC and mechanical systems, with working knowledge of electrical and plumbing coordination.
  • Demonstrated success in a field-based leadership role, managing subcontractors and on-site operations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Strong understanding of early-phase construction, including foundations and site work (preferred).
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable transitioning from hands-on field experience into a senior project leadership role.

Supervisory Responsibility: 

  • This position has supervisory responsibility.

Expected Hours of Work: 

An Employee must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes, however the expectations of the position will require an average of forty (40) hours with overtime required as scheduled. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining an employee’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). Brightcore also offers a comprehensive set of benefits to compliment the base salary. The base salary hiring range for this position is $150,000.00-$180,000.00 and is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.

Travel Requirements:  

  • Travel required up to 80% to work/project sites in the greater Northeast Region (but not limited to) of the United States.
