Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Duration: 1+ Year

Hybrid Work Policy: 2 days in the office / 3 days at home Location: Anywhere in the U.S. near a local Jacobs officePhiladelphia, PA 19103, (Also open to candidates in Portland, OR or Tempe, AZ)

Qualifications

Required (Must Haves)

• Seven (7) or more years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems
• Experience in Data Center HVAC systems
• Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to HVAC design
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment with multiple deadlines
• Ability to lead a building mechanical team and collaborate remotely
• Professional Engineer (PE) License

Preferred

• Software experience in:
• • Revit
  • AutoCAD
  • Carrier HAP
  • Trane Trace 700
  • Trane Trace 3D
• Experience in the design of plumbing/utility systems

Responsibilities

• Layout and design of HVAC systems for various client types, including:
• • Electric vehicle facilities
  • Data centers
  • Heavy industrial facilities
• Develop design criteria for HVAC systems, including:
• • Comfort heating and cooling
  • Precise temperature or humidity control
  • Pressurization requirements
  • Clean room cleanliness requirements
• Develop conceptual and preliminary design documents, including:
• • System sizing and selection calculations
  • P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams)
  • General arrangement drawings
• Layout ductwork systems based on P&IDs
• Develop final design documents, including:
• • Specifications
  • Sequences of operation
  • Piping layouts
  • Final construction documents
  • Systems such as chilled water, cooling water, etc.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines
• Apply strong organizational skills, curiosity, collaboration, and multitasking
• Mentor less experienced staff
