️ Lead HVAC Installer - Commercial Projects

Location: San Diego, CAIndustry: Mechanical / HVAC ContractingEmployment Type: Temp-to-Hire or Direct Hire

Overview:We are seeking a skilled and dependable Lead HVAC Installer to manage the field installation of advanced commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across Southern California. Our client is a top-rated mechanical contractor that serves the San Diego metro region, focusing on office spaces, large-scale retail, multifamily developments, and public facilities. This is a long-term opportunity for HVAC professionals looking to step into a leadership position while continuing hands-on installation work.

In this role, you will take responsibility for interpreting blueprints and HVAC layouts, leading a team of junior installers, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to local code. You will also interface with project managers and site supervisors to communicate progress and ensure quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead installation of commercial HVAC systems including RTUs, VRF/VRV systems, and ductwork
Coordinate site logistics, labor assignments, and daily install goals
Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced crew members
Troubleshoot install issues and work with engineers to adjust designs in the field
Perform quality assurance checks and conduct system start-ups when necessary
Maintain project timelines, site cleanliness, and OSHA safety standards

Requirements:

4+ years of experience in commercial HVAC installation (not residential)
EPA Universal Certification required
OSHA 10 or 30 preferred
Ability to read blueprints, interpret schematics, and troubleshoot installation problems
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Valid driver's license and clean DMV required
