HVAC Mechanic / Building Engineer

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanic / Building Engineer to perform the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of commercial HVAC and building systems. This role is responsible for ensuring building equipment operates safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of reliability and performance.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with large commercial HVAC equipment, building automation systems (Client), and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Operate and maintain building automation systems (Client).
- Service boilers, chillers, air handling units, VAV systems, hot water heating systems, and domestic water plumbing systems.
- Monitor building equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Respond to maintenance requests and equipment failures in a timely manner.
- Perform routine inspections and identify potential maintenance issues before they become major repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
- Assist with general building maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial building maintenance and HVAC operations.
- Universal EPA (CFC) Certification required.
- Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License required.
- Technical HVAC training preferred.
- Experience maintaining:
- Building Automation Systems (Client)
- Boilers
- Chillers
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems
- Hot water heating systems
- Domestic water plumbing systems
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance tasks.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain NATE Certification within six months of employment.
Preferred Certifications
Candidates with one or more of the following certifications are highly preferred:
- NATE Certification
- HVAC Excellence Certification
- UA STAR Certification
