Job Description
A growing commercial mechanical contractor is seeking an HVAC Project Manager to join their team in Raleigh, NC. This position offers a high-impact opportunity to take ownership of complex commercial and healthcare construction projects within a collaborative, field-driven environment. Ideal candidates will have strong experience managing HVAC installations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead project execution from planning through closeout. This is a full-time, in-person role with substantial time spent in the field (50%+), and comes with a company vehicle and competitive compensation.
HVAC Project Manager Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of HVAC construction projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and field coordination, to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, clients, general contractors, vendors, and field crews, maintaining clear and proactive communication
- Track job progress and costs regularly, flagging potential delays or issues early and assisting with change orders and billing as needed
- Manage labor and material resources effectively, including coordinating sheet metal and piping crews and verifying timely delivery of materials
- Conduct weekly site visits to ensure quality of installation aligns with drawings, specifications, and code requirements; maintain in-house punch lists
- Participate in weekly meetings with field staff to forecast labor needs and maintain accurate two-week lookahead schedules
- Support hiring, training, and performance evaluations of field staff in collaboration with supervisors
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and escalate concerns to the safety manager as needed
- Assist in job closeout documentation and provide client support throughout the warranty period
HVAC Project Manager Requirements:
5+ years of HVAC project management experience in commercial construction (mechanical contractor experiencepreferred)
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems including hydronic piping, sheet metal, refrigerant piping, and controls
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, construction management or similar field preferred
