Job Description:
The HVAC Service Technician I at AAON is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in the
installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems. This role supports senior technicians and
learns to diagnose and resolve basic mechanical and electrical issues. The technician will gain
hands-on experience with AAON equipment and service procedures. This position is ideal for
individuals beginning their HVAC career in a manufacturing or field service environment.
Primary Duties
Technician I performs routine service tasks under supervision and supports more experienced
technicians in troubleshooting and repairs.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with installation and startup of HVAC units.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as filter changes and cleaning coils.
- Support troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical components.
- Document service activities and report findings to supervisors.
- Follow safety protocols and company procedures.
- Learn to use diagnostic tools and service software.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or GED
Preferred: Completion of an HVAC technical training program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems and components.
- Ability to use hand tools and follow instructions.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and teamwork skills or any combination of education and experience,
which would provide an equivalent background.
Essential Mental and Physical Functions:
This role requires physical stamina and the ability to learn technical systems.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Frequent standing, bending, and climbing ladders.
- Visual acuity for inspecting equipment.
- Mental focus for learning and following procedures.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including rooftops and mechanical
rooms. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and equipment is common. PPE is required.
